In this training, we covered creating panels in ORS, setting up jurors for success, training jurors to complete judging, and key takeaways to advance our shared values and goals of diversity, equity, and inclusion, such as:
- Replacing the term "blind adjudication" and instead emphasizing that jurors select works for Gold & Silver Keys without knowledge of the artist's name, gender, or ethnicity.
- Creatively thinking about how you select American Voices and Visions Nominees to represent the teens in your region, including, but not limited to, selecting works from different teens in different schools or communities from your region.
- Recruiting a diverse group of qualified judges that is representative of your region.
- Instructing jurors to consider many types of skill and not just technical craftsmanship. For example, considering creativity, critical thinking, problem-solving, conceptual development, and social-emotional skills.
